Bondio is proud to introduce OMEGA, our newest eSIM label designed to ensure your users always stay connected. OMEGA leverages multi-IMSI switching capabilities to deliver superior reliability while remaining price competitive. Powered by Bondio’s in-house Super IMSI (SuprIM) technology, OMEGA enables dynamic routing across multiple IMSIs and networks via our powerful core network.

Key benefits

Superior reliability with multi-IMSI capabilities

The #1 cause of outages for Bondio customers is IPX downtime: SIMs stay attached to the network but can’t pass data. OMEGA will prevent this by automatically switching to an alternative IMSI so users stay online. (not yet live) OMEGA will intelligently switch to a secure alternative route during IPX downtime automatically — no action required.
  • Users stay online
  • Support tickets plummet
  • You only pay for backup data actually consumed

Best pricing at scale

OMEGA ensures optimal pricing by selecting the most cost-effective IMSI per country — maximizing competitiveness globally.

Smart cost protection for unused eSIMs

OMEGA is designed to be cost-efficient by default. As long as an OMEGA eSIM is actively used, there are no additional holding costs beyond standard usage. To help you avoid paying for inventory that isn’t being used, OMEGA includes a built-in 90-day grace period for inactive eSIMs. Here’s how it works:
  • Every OMEGA eSIM includes a 90-day grace period
  • The grace period starts from the last data usage, or the purchase date (if no data was ever used)
  • The grace period automatically resets whenever data is consumed
At the end of the grace period, you stay fully in control:
  • Keep the eSIM reserved for future use (preserve), or
  • Return the eSIM to Bondio to avoid any ongoing reservation cost (lapse)
This gives you maximum flexibility to stock eSIMs when needed — without paying for idle inventory.
We recommend regularly reviewing inactive OMEGA eSIMs and returning any you don’t plan to use within the next 90 days — ensuring you always get the best value.

Lightning-fast network attachment

OMEGA pre-selects the best IMSI before attaching — avoiding slow, trial-and-error, multi-IMSI cycling. Faster attach means better UX and fewer failures at setup.

Why it matters for you

  • Automatic outage protection → Users stay online, fewer support tickets (not live yet)
  • Smart multi-IMSI routing → Best possible pricing by country
  • Fast network attachment → Better user experience from the start
  • Zero integration changes → Adopt instantly, no engineering lift
  • Built-in resiliency → Higher uptime for mission-critical deployments

Suggested migration plan

  1. Move mission-critical new activations to OMEGA
  2. Migrate high-support-load deployments
  3. Expand to full portfolio once performance benchmarks are confirmed
Your Bondio CSM will coordinate configuration, testing, and rollout support.

OMEGA eSIM pricing & reservation

Policy

This section explains how OMEGA eSIMs are priced, when charges apply, and what actions you can take to stay in control of your costs. Our goal is to keep pricing simple, predictable, and fair — while helping you actively manage your eSIM inventory with confidence.

At a glance

  • No extra cost while eSIMs are actively used
  • 90-day grace period before any reservation fees apply
  • Return unused eSIMs at the end of the grace period to avoid charges
  • Simple actions — “lapse” or “preserve” — give you full control

TL;DR

  • You pay $0.50 once when you purchase an OMEGA eSIM
  • While an eSIM is actively consuming data, you pay $0.50 per month and no reservation fee applies
  • Unused eSIMs get a 90-day grace period with no charges
  • After the grace period, unused eSIMs cost $0.10 per month only if you choose to keep them
  • You can return unused eSIMs before the grace period ends to avoid reservation fees entirely
  • Action is required: mark each eSIM as lapse (return) or preserve (reserved)

OMEGA eSIM costs

OMEGA eSIMs have three possible cost components:
Cost componentAmountWhen it applies
One-time eSIM cost$0.50 per eSIMCharged at purchase
Monthly active cost$0.50 per eSIMOnly when the eSIM is actively consuming data
Monthly reservation fee$0.10 per eSIMOnly for unused eSIMs kept after the grace period
If an eSIM is actively consuming data, no reservation fee applies.

Understanding the 90-day grace period

Unused OMEGA eSIMs come with a 90-day grace period during which no reservation fees are charged. The grace period starts from:
  • The last data usage date, if the eSIM has ever consumed data, or
  • The purchase date, if the eSIM has never been used
Each time an eSIM consumes data, the grace period resets based on that latest usage.

What happens after the grace period?

Once the 90-day grace period ends, you have two choices:
  • Return the eSIM → No further charges
  • Keep (reserve) the eSIM → A $0.10 monthly reservation fee applies until the eSIM is used again or returned
Best practice: regularly review unused eSIMs and return the ones you don’t plan to use.

Pricing scenarios

Below are common examples showing how charges work in practice.

Scenario 1: Bulk purchase, never used, kept after grace period

Company A buys 100 OMEGA eSIMs on 15 Jan and does not sell or use any of them. The company decides to keep the eSIMs after the 90-day grace period.
MonthChargesTotal
Jan(100 × 0.50)+(0×0.50) + (0 × 0.50) + (0 × $0.10)$50.00
FebNo charges$0.00
MarNo charges$0.00
Apr100 × $0.10 reservation fee$10.00
May100 × $0.10 reservation fee$10.00
CSM tip: If you don’t expect near-term usage, returning unused eSIMs keeps your costs lean and predictable.

Scenario 2: Single eSIM, never used, returned on time

Company A buys 1 OMEGA eSIM on 15 Jan and never sells or uses it. The eSIM is returned before the grace period ends.
MonthChargesTotal
Jan1 × $0.50$0.50
FebNo charges$0.00
MarNo charges$0.00
AprNo charges$0.00
MayNo charges$0.00

Scenario 3: Sold, used, then kept after grace period

Company A buys 1 OMEGA eSIM on 15 Jan and sells it as a 10GB/60-day plan.
  • End user starts using data on 20 Jan
  • Data is fully consumed by 20 Feb
  • Company A decides to keep the eSIM after the grace period
MonthChargesTotal
Jan(1 × 0.50)+(1×0.50) + (1 × 0.50 active)$1.00
Feb1 × $0.50 active$0.50
MarNo charges$0.00
AprNo charges$0.00
May1 × $0.10 reservation fee$0.10
Jun1 × $0.10 reservation fee$0.10
CSM tip: Even brief data usage resets the grace period — use this strategically if you plan to resell or reuse the eSIM.

Lapsing OMEGA eSIMs (returning)

At the end of the grace period, you decide what happens to each eligible OMEGA eSIM:
  • Mark it as lapse → eSIM is returned to Bondio, no reservation fee
  • Mark it as preserve → eSIM is kept and the reservation fee applies
The API for returning OMEGA eSIMs: Set grace period finish action At the end of each grace period, Bondio will:
  1. Check all eligible OMEGA eSIMs
  2. Return eSIMs marked lapse
  3. Apply reservation fees to eSIMs marked preserve
By default, the gracePeriodFinishAction for any eSIM is set to LAPSE.If the grace period is not updated via API, the eSIM is lapsed at the end of the grace period and you will never get charged. In order to preserve it and incur charges beyond the grace period, please make sure to call the API to set the action accordingly.
  • Monitor unused eSIMs regularly
  • Return eSIMs you don’t plan to use
  • Automate return/reserve decisions via the API
This ensures you only pay for inventory that delivers value.

Frequently asked questions
